Grooming Terms & Conditions

My Dear Pet Grooming and Spa Salon's Grooming Policies

The following Terms and Conditions apply to My Dear Pet Grooming and Spa Salon's grooming services for dogs.

We care about your dog's health and welfare.

When your dog is with us, their well-being is our top priority. We take their health and safety very seriously.

A consultation with us is required if your pet have any pre-existing health conditions.

Kindly be informed that grooming of all canines is conducted at the owner's responsibility. Nonetheless, we retain the authority to decline to groom dogs that exhibit signs of unwell, illness, infirm, disability, hostility, aggression, fear or apprehension.

It is important to inform the groomer of any behavioural issues before the grooming process begins.

If extra time or a groomer is required to complete the groom, extra fees may be incurred.

If the dog is too scared or stressed to continue, or if it's a danger to itself or us, we reserve the right to end the grooming session.

We welcome fearful dogs, but we may need to implement a rehabilitation program to help your dog become comfortable with grooming in a relaxed manner.

During grooming, health issues may be discovered that were previously unknown. If any are found, we will inform you so that you can seek veterinary advice.

Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any ailments uncovered during the grooming process.

We can provide guidance, but we are not trained medical professionals.

Therefore, we cannot diagnose or treat any issues.

Although accidents are uncommon, they can occur. In case of an emergency, we have your permission to seek medical help. The owner will bear the cost, and we will notify you at the earliest opportunity.

If your dog is affected by fleas, kindly inform us before your scheduled appointment. In such cases, we will use a de-flea shampoo during the grooming process, unless you advise us otherwise.

An additional fee of £10 will be charged based on the severity of the situation, which will cover the cost of the flea shampoo and the fumigation treatment of the salon.

CANCELLATION / NO SHOW POLICY.

We understand that sometimes life gets in the way and appointments can slip our minds. For this reason, we send you a text and email reminder 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.

If you need to reschedule or cancel, you can do so up to 24 hours before your appointment without incurring any charges.

However, if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, there will be a cancellation fee of £25.

If you fail to show up for your appointment, we will have to charge you the full cost.

As a small business, we rely on income from appointments, so please give us plenty of notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

LATE ARRIVAL POLICY.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances can cause delays to appointments. While we make every effort to complete grooming within the scheduled time, this may not always be possible.

In such cases, we may need to schedule a follow-up appointment to complete the grooming process, for which an additional charge will apply.

However, if you are running 30 minutes or more late, we reserve the right to refuse grooming and treat it as a no-show.

LATE COLLECTION POLICY.

If you find yourself running late to pick up your dog, kindly inform us. We'll take excellent care of your furry friend while waiting for your arrival. However, in case you exceed a 30-minute delay, we'll charge an additional fee to cover the cost of assigning a staff member to attend to your dog.

MATTED DOGS POLICY.

We understand that it can be challenging to keep your dog's coat in check at home, and matting can develop without you realizing it.

Matting can cause irritation and sores on your dog's skin, and it can be painful even in mild cases.

However, severe matting can cut off circulation to your pet's skin and cause hematomas.

If your dog's coat needs to be clipped due to severe matting, please note that About the Dog is not responsible for any post-grooming effects.

We prioritize your dog's welfare to ensure it is comfortable and stress-free during grooming.

We can de-mat small areas for up to 15 minutes if the dog is comfortable with the procedure.

However, more severe matting requires a complete shave down, which results in a very short haircut but a more comfortable dog.

We will always discuss this with you prior to grooming, but if we can't reach you, signing this form gives us permission to act in your dog's best interest.

De-matting and shaving matted coats require significantly more time, labor, and product, resulting in an extra charge.

To prevent matting, we highly recommend brushing your dog regularly.

We sell a wide range of brushes on our website and have a helpful blog on how to brush your dog.

Thank you for reading this. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask our groomer or a staff member.
